Blossoming flowers are spring’s trademark. Whenever I think of spring or summer, my mind fills up with images of beautiful flowers in many bright colors. In fashion, Florals is the trend that embodies the very essence of spring and summer. I know that, as Miranda Priestly remarked in Devil Wears Prada, Florals are not the most groundbreaking spring trend; if anything they are an expected one. However, there would be no spring fashion without any Florals. Just because something is expected it doesn’t mean it is ordinary and uninteresting. I love Florals because they add a girly vibe to an outfit. This year, designers have added their own romantic twist to this old trend by creating more delicate patterns, which in turn add femininity to a look. From clothes and shoes to jewelry and accessories, this season’s Florals have a more romantic, ethereal and playful twist. Below are some of my favorite ways to add some flowers to your spring/summer wardrobe.
Tops and Jackets
Match a floral top to a pair of jeans or shorts for the perfect fresh, casual look. Add a floral jacket and spice up even the simplest outfit.
Bottoms
A floral skirt or a pair of floral shorts are another way to add a spring inspired, girly touch to a casual outfit. Match them with one-color tops for a more balanced look or with patterned ones for the bolder souls.
Dresses and Playsuits
For those who dream of walking in the Garden of Eden, the best choice would be an all-floral outfit, like a beautiful dress or a sexy romper.
Shoes and Accessories
If you don’t want the floral pattern to have a strong place in your look but a more discreet one, you can add a few touches with a beautiful floral bag, a pair of killer blossoming shoes or even a nice flower-inspired piece of jewelery. Viva the accessories ladies!
Beautiful floral prints on shoes, tops, skirts and dresses, are one of the most popular trends for this season. I love wearing a flower inspired piece with a pair of jeans for a casual yet ultra feminine look. I am in love with all the pieces above; I even have some like the wonderful off-the-shoulder ZARA top and they cute New Look playsuit. What are your favorite floral pieces? Also don’t forget to hit me up on my Instagram (@vogueandmacarons) and Twitter (@vogueandmacaron). I would love to hear from you guys!
Have you ever went through a day where you felt that your casual and comfortable outfit is just a little too “plain”? Did you feel that it is nice and stylish but it doesn’t stand out much? Yet you didn’t want to sacrifice your much-needed day-comfort for something too”out there” or “too much” for the daytime? Well this year the rules are thrown out of the window; glaming up your casual look is a trend and it looks amazing. Whoever said that you can’t match dazzling pieces with simple comfy ones, could not be more wrong. Even I am drawn more and more to glamorous, metallic pieces that I could just incorporate to my casual daily looks, so I can spice them up a bit. These 4 pieces are perfect for those who don’t want to step out of their comfort zone much but they do want to glam up their routine.
The metallic bag
Imagine wearing a pair of your favorite jeans with a jumper and a pair of ankle boots; a pretty plain and simple outfit we all wear in the daytime. Now replace your favorite day bag with a nice metallic colored one; let’s say a silver one. How much different will this outfit look? Instantly it will be transformed. A silver-colored bag will glam it up and catch everyone’s attention. The outfit won’t be plain anymore; it will be more special but not in a tacky way. No matter how much I love this metallicChloe Drew bag(image2), this beautiful silver ASOS(image1) one is much more affordable and simply stunning.
The metallic shoes
A touch of metal is the perfect way to glam up a casual outfit. It doesn’t always need to be a bag. Although a bag could be the safest choice for those who don’t like stepping out of their comfort zone, another choice could be the shoes or even the clothes of the look. The shoes are my other favorite option besides the bag. They are more daring and unconventional but the whole result could easily look tacky. However, with the right amount of metal and the right styling, the casual outfit would look more glamorous and you wouldn’t feel like you are in a futuristic movie. I love silver more than gold in an outfit, because it seems closer to white and it is more toned down. Therefore, I would love to add these Topshop loafer style silver flats(image1) to my casual outfit. Their price tag is incredible and they look so pretty. Not that I wouldn’t mind theseYves Saint Laurent pumps(image2) but their out of my reach. Plus I don’t feel comfortable with high heels on day basis. But boy do they look breathtaking!
The embellished skirt
Moving on a little from the metallic accessories, another way to glam up a casual look would be an embellished skirt. It could be embellished with gems, rhinestones, sequins or even studs. Pairing a skirt like that with a nice jumper or a t-shirt and a pair of flats or even sneakers, would result in an unusual everyday look. If the skirt is entirely made of sequins then I suppose it might be a little too much, but a nice pattern with gems, like this gorgeous lavender ASOS skirt (look at the price!) (image1), would look adorable. Or how about this grey Monki jersey skirtwith gemstones (image2)? I can picture it with a pair of white sneakers and a jumper already!
The necklace
Lastly, another much simpler way of glaming up a casual look, would be the most obvious: a piece of jewellery. Adding a statement necklace to a plain white jumper, or a t-shirt or even a shirt, would jazz up the look on the spot. It wouldn’t be as dramatic as the previous choices, nor as daring, but it would be eye-catching nonetheless; like this gorgeous From St. Xavier gold necklace(image1), which is simple yet definitely eye-catching. I would love to match it to a cream or navy jumper. Or how about this New Look crystal necklace(image2)? We all know that a crystal necklace is a perfect classy and glamorous addition to any look. This necklace will turn even a simple t-shirt/jeans outfit into a more sophisticated and elegant one.
Adding some sparkle to an otherwise plain, casual outfit is an easy way to change and spice up your dressing routine. Without changing your style much or leaving your comfort zone, with these 4 pieces you can glam up your look and feel more special and dazzling even in the middle of the day. A casual outfit doesn’t mean it has to be plain or boring; it can be fun and interesting. How do you guys glam up your daily casual outfit? I absolutely love wearing jeans. They are so comfortable and easy to style. You can dress them down and create a casual daily look, or dress them up with a nice shirt or top. I like how effortless they are. Pairing jeans with a nice top is so easy that gives you time to focus on the details; the accessories. Another thing I love about jeans, is how there is a huge variety of styles and designs that can basically compliment any body type. There are jeans for slim bodies, curvier figures, tall girls or short ones. And let’s not forget the shades; light blue for the summer, darker blue for the winter, black, grey, white and even colorful ones like pink and red. But as mentioned before, the most important selling point of them for me, is their comfort; the fact that I feel at ease while wearing them, and the fact that I just can’t go wrong with a nice pair of jeans.
I don’t really like to overspend on my jeans. I rather have many different ones than just a couple pricey ones. My two favorite brands for jeans-shopping are Topshop and ASOS. Both brands have reasonably priced jeans and a lovely variety. However, they don’t offer the same quality. I am a 5’10’’ girl with a curvy figure and I feel that high-waisted jeans are better for me. They elongate and slim down my body a little bit, whereas the low or mid waist ones are just focusing on the problematic area (hips) that i’d rather not emphasize. Therefore, when shopping, I always get myself high-waisted jeans.
From Topshop all my jeans are the Joni Super High Waisted ones. I love the Joni jeans. The size I go for is W32L34 and in the Tall section it’s W30L36. They are very comfortable, long enough and reasonably priced at 50 euros. However, the quality is not that good. I hate to say it, but if it was up to me I wouldn’t call them jeans but jeggings because that’s how they feel. The material is quite thin and after a while it rubs off and sometimes it even gets holey. It also becomes a bit baggy especially around the knees and the color may fade at some parts. Something that is that thin, in my opinion is not really denim. Hence, I would call them jeggings. They are very stretchy and comfortable, but because they are that thin, I don’t feel I am wearing proper jeans. I like how they are flattering my body and how long they are but it’s disappointing at how quickly they fall apart. They last me a year at the most before they start having major issues. I do still love them though, as they combine comfort, style and a relatively low price.
From ASOS I go for the Ridley Skinny High Waisted Jeans. I usually get the W32L34 size, unless it’s an ankle grazer, where in that case I might size up, as I find they have a little tighter fit. Now the ASOS jeans are quite different. They are thicker than the Joni ones, therefore they don’t rub off or fade that easily. Because they are thicker, they are less elastic. This means they are not as comfy and stretchy as the Joni ones. Don’t get me wrong though; they are not uncomfy. They are as comfy as regular jeans are. The Topshop ones are too stretchy, more like leggings. The length may vary in ASOS jeans. I have ankle grazers that are just above my ankles and ankle grazers that are like cropped jeans. So I would say that there might be a slight surprise with the length. Therefore, if I can size up on the length I do it. Their price is lower than the Topshop ones; they are between 34-45 euros. I really like my ASOS Ridley jeans a lot because they feel like proper, good quality jeans and they are at a great price.
Jeans are one of the most popular pieces of clothing. They are comfortable, relatively cheap and they match with everything. Literally, you can put any top with them and you have a nice look. From effortless and casual they can easily be transformed into a chic night-time outfit. I love my jeans; whether they are from Topshop or ASOS. However, if you are looking for the best combination of quality and low price (value for money), ASOS is a better choice. Its jeans are thicker, better quality and more affordable. Topshop jeans are very comfy and they have a nice fit, but they are quite thin and they will fall apart quite quickly. Plus they are a bit more pricey. I recommend both brands as they both offer some nice jeans; I just like ASOS jeans a bit more. It all comes down to what everyone is seeking; better quality or more comfort and stretch. Which is your favorite jeans brand and why? Do you guys prefer ASOS or Topshop jeans? I would love to know what you think! TOPSHOP BETTY STAR BOOTS AND BUDDY EYELET BOOTS REVIEW
Hello lovelies! I hope you are all having a great Sunday so far! I am very excited for this post, as I love shoes and I know how hard it is to get the right shoe and size when ordering online. Topshop is one of my favorite brands when it comes to affordable, yet good quality shoes. It has so many stylish and modern designs. The quality is always good, and I have many shoes that have lasted me for years. Combining that good, lasting quality with the affordable price of them, Topshop’s shoes are an amazing alternative for someone who doesn’t want to spend a fortune on a pair of shoes, but also doesn’t want to sacrifice quality. Lastly, a huge factor that makes me want to buy shoes from Topshop, is the sizing. I am a 5’10’’ girl with a size EU 41 or UK 8 or US 10 foot, and finding shoes has always been a hassle. It is even harder for me to find shoes from my favorite online brands like ASOS, because the sizing is not always as it is supposed to be. Therefore, I always end up getting size UK 9 or EU 42, just o make sure the shoe will not be small. I rather have a slightly bigger shoe than a smaller one. In this post I am going to review two lovely pairs of ankle boots I got from Topshop not too long ago.
The first pair I got was the Buddy Eyelet ankle boots in khaki color. I always love ankle boots. Apart from ballet flats they are my go-to shoes in the winter, because they are comfortable, stylish and protect your feet from the cold. I really love ankle boots. However, I realized recently that almost all my shoes are black, so there is no variety. Black is my favorite color for staple pieces like my everyday shoes and everyday bag, but I also like black for going out, as it is perfect and safer for more formal occasions. However, once I took a look at all my black shoes, I thought I just had to add some color to my shoe wardrobe. Therefore, when I saw those khaki ankle boots on Topshop site, I knew I had to have them. Khaki is one of my favorite colors for winter, because it is not too bold and it is also easy to match. I got the shoes in UK 9 just to be safe and I was not wrong. The shoes do have a small fit, so there is no way I would fit in UK 8. The heel is a little higher than what I have used to wear on a daily basis, but not high enough to get me tired. They are suede, which wouldn’t be a problem normally as I absolutely love suede, however, the suede in these shoes is a little rough. The shoes pressure the top of my foot a little bit just because the material is so rigid. I love the combination of khaki with the golden studs and how the shoes are not just plain but have that little detail. Overall, the Buddy Eyelet shoes are lovely. The have a nice height heel, chunky and low enough for every day. They are comfortable, but the material is rigid enough that sometimes it pressure the top of my foot. The color is gorgeous, but I did have to get the 42/9 size as they do run a little small. I would definitely recommend them!
The Betty Star ankle boots are my most recent purchase. I know I know, I went back to black. What can I say, I can’t help it! I love black shoes! These boots are just amazing. They are suede, very simple but they have those cute golden stars on the back, which spices things up a bit. So basically they are your everyday casual black ankle boots but with a twist. I am really into golden details like stars, studs and spikes, so I really like the combination of black with gold. I feel they add some glamor to the shoes. From all aspects, these boots are the same as the Buddy Eyelet ones. They have the same heel height, so not too high but not too low, and they are made from the same rigid suede. Therefore, they also pressure the top of my foot; not both shoes though, just the right one.I believe i just have to break them in. I got them in a size 42/9 as well, and once again I was right; the shoes run a bit small so if I had stuck to my regular 41 size, they wouldn’t fit. Overall, the Betty Star boots are perfect. I absolutely love them! They are great for everyday to add some dazzle to a plain outfit, but also great for the night if you – like me – don’t wear high heels often. As with the previous boots, I sized up because they run small. Also, the material is a little rigid and they pressure my upper foot. But they do fit quite well and they are at a great price, so I totally recommend them.
I love Topshop shoes, because they combine quality with price. I also love ankle boots in general, because they are very versatile and I can wear them in the daytime and nighttime, dress them up and dress them down. Both pairs are lovely. They have the right heel height and I really like the suede material. They run small so I would recommend sizing up, and at least for me, the rigid suede pressures my upper foot a bit, so I will try to soften them in a shoemaker. I love both their design as they are quite modern with golden studs and stars. I really recommend both pairs, as their price makes them very affordable. Do you guys have any of the pairs and if so, do you like them? Comment down below and share what you think about Topshop shoes. Also don’t forget to pop over my Instagram (@blueberrylover) and Twitter (@vickyinlaland) and say hello.
Although it’s the middle of November, Greece has gone back to spring mode with warm and sunny weather. However, in the nightime it actually gets quite cold and a coat is mandatory. This is a lovely look for transitioning from the warm day to the chilly night. It is inspired by one of the biggest trends of this season, as mentioned on a previous post (see here), which is the 70’s hippie style. The A-line skirt along with the floral – bell sleeve top is a very bohemian combination. The earthly colors of the top are complimented by the forest green shoes and coat, which is also a very hot trend this season. This look is not the boldest 70’s look you can create, but I absolutely love it and I believe it is perfect for those who love the 70’s but are on the milder and more toned down side.
My favorite piece from the look is the skirt; this ASOS A-line high waisted skirt is very comfortable and flattering for my bodytype. It doesn’t emphasize on the hips or thighs and the buttons create a slimming effect. A denim skirt is such a versatile piece and can be work with everything, from tops and shirts to jumpers and hoodies. It is a must have piece for anyone’s wardrobe. The sheer, floral shirt with the bell sleeves is from ZARA and it’s gorgeous. Mustard yellow, brown and brick red are hot colors for autumn and winter. Although I don’t pick them often, I feel like this top compliments me and my reddish brown hair. I love how the sleeves give this boho vibe which this look is all about. I decided to match the outfit with a forest green coat from ZARA that I absolutely love and have for over a year, and a new pair of ankle boots from TOPSHOP in the same color. I believe that forest green, besides being a hot trend right now, it also goes pretty well with the colors of the top and adds a little something to a toned down, casual outfit. Finally, I picked this light brown bag from ZARA, because it seems like it puts the whole look together. Brown and green is a match made in heaven and you can see the color of the bag in the top! This outfit is a great introduction to the 70’s trend. It is quite casual and perfect for a warmer or colder weather! What do you guys think of the 70’s trend? With fall slowly creeping in, an old trend has made an appearance in all the major catwalks; the 70’s are back! While I wasn’t a huge fan of the bohemian/hippie era as a kid, this year I have come to be quite fond of it. I don’t know what it is about those fur vests and fringed boots, but taking a look at them makes me instantly happy.
From NYFW high-end brands to our always beloved high street ones (Topshop, ZARA, H&M etc.), 70’s is everywhere! However, as with all the retro trends that make a comeback, it is important to incorporate into your everyday wardrobe with caution as going too far could lead to an outfit turned into a costume; and it’s not Halloween yet! Below I have put together the 7 KEY PIECES of this trend that are easy to blend with your own style so you can spice it up and create that beautiful and effortless bohemian look for this fall.
Fringe
Fringes, fringes everywhere! On boots, on vests, on dresses and purses, fringes are literally everywhere this season. To me it’s a combination of wild west style and hippie 70’s and they totally work together like penutbutter and jelly! I am in love with a fringe black purse from H&M and a pair of suede, camel, fringed boots from ZARA that probably won’t fit my feet! And what about that awesome Topshop jscket (pictured above) right? Just perfect! Fringes are such a fun and boho addition to any item. They could be suede or leather, long or short and they will still steal the show.
Suede
Speaking of suede, now this is a fabric to look out for; Smooth like velvet but not as delicate, suede has always been one of my favorite materials to wear. It gives a sense of a wilderness for some reason. You can find it on skirts and dresses as well as –my personal favorite- shoes and especially long boots. What I like the most about it this season though, is the variety of colours as you can switch from the usual camel, to a pretty pale blue or a dark burgundy, like the beautiful Missguided dress (pictured above).
Flared pants
Boy oh boy, who would have thought that flared pants would come back to haunt us? I remember in highschool that was all I was wearing but I haven’t touched them since college. Looking at them this season, I find myself incorporating them in several outfits in my head which has taken me by surprise. It could be a pair of bell-bottom jeans for a more relaxed boho look, or a pair of suede trousers for a more polished look. Look at this total denim look by Missguided (pictured above). I need this in my life! It’s time to add some flair in your lives 😉
Bell-sleeve tops
This is one of my favorite key pieces! I absolutely love bell-sleeve tops. I either go for white, or pastel coloured sheer ones, or for floral prints as in that way I combine two trends I like; the boho with the romantic/girly. A nice loose top with bell sleeves is perfect for day to-night outfits; pair it with jeans or cutoffs in the day and with pretty A-line skirts and black pants for a night look. Just perfect!
A-line skirts
A-line button down skirts are a major piece of this trend. They add more structure on the total look which why they are perfect match to the loose bell-sleeve tops. You will find them mostly in many denim shades which creates a laid back/country girl. My personal favorites are the vibrant blue shades, like the Missguided one (pictured above), as they are neither too dark nor too light so perfect for all year round. However, for the more adventurers out there, you can also find the IT skirt of the season made out of suede in mostly camel and brown shades. I know I will definitely get my hands on both styles; suede and denim. What about you?
Crazy/funky prints
Bold, colorful designs make a strong appearance this fall. You will find them everywhere from maxi dresses and flared pants to Saturday Night Fever like jumpsuits. Paisley and floral prints add a total 70’s vibe and they turn any item into a statement piece. All i know is that I am definitely going to get my hands on that maxi dress goodness (pictured above) !! I can already see it paired with black thigh high boots!
Vests
Last but not least, a key piece for this fall would be the good old vest but with a twist; look for furry ones (faux always) or embroidered with flowers in creamy and burgundy shades, for the perfect hippie look. Think of Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix to get some inspiration on how to style such a unique piece. I absolutely love the long furry one by ZARA (pictured above) as it looks very warm and stylish! Flared pants and a furry vest are a match made in heaven for this season!
No one can deny that this fall it is the biggest come back of the 70’s. Earthly colors, bold prints, bell bottoms and tops, suede and fringe for modern bohemian queens, are just some of the characteristics of this trend. NYFW has already started and so much inspiration can be drawn from there for the modern fashionistas. Following my 7 key pieces post, there will be a KEY 70’s ACCESSORIES of this trend post where I’ll talk about shoes, purses and general accessories that are crucial to complete a 70’s look. If you want to be on the loop about everything on my blog all you have to do is click the follow button. Don’t forget you can also follow me on Bloglovin. Now off I go to get me some of these goodies cause I can’t wait for the proper fall to kick in already! What about you?
Good morning everyone! I am so excited to welcome you all to my new blog. Not much has changed though, and in this spirit the first post of this blog will follow the last post of my old blog. The second trend of this year’s spring and summer season, is one of my personal favorites; the prima ballerina. Oh my how beautiful are the clothes of this trend! As a major fan of this type of dance due to its elegance and romantic notion, I couldn’t be more excited when brands such as Armani, Chloe and Lanvin incorporated it to their spring collections. This trend’s key pieces range from tulle dresses to nude sheer shirts and pleated skirts, paired with metallic accessories like silver gladiator shoes for a little glamming up. Although the colour palette is mostly neutral and pink, aquatic shades are also quite popular as they add something extra and different on this old trend. Just take a look at this beautiful Valentino maxi dress pictured below; isn’t it just breathtaking?
But don’t worry girls! If brands like Lanvin and Valentinoare a bit out of your reach, you can still emulate the beautiful ballerina trend; brands such as ASOS, Missguided and Topshop, carry some equally beautiful pieces and far more affordable. I personally fell in love with this gorgeous ASOS dress. That little bow belt adds some extra girlyness to this romantic piece. Or that lovely mint tulle skirt. It’s so elegant and pretty. And lets not forget the accessories. Either it is a pair of ballet pumps in rose gold or a cute little silver belt, accessories are always an important touch to every outfit as they are the ones that pull the outfit together. Lately I am so in love with everything rose gold lately from jewelry to purses and shoes. I believe that they are the perfect match to such an ethereal and feminine outfit.
The beautiful and feminine ballerina is one of this season’s major trends. Covered in tulle and sheer clothes that create an ethereal figure, you can emulate a beautiful white (or black) swan! You can pair it with flats for a fresh everyday look or team it with heels to add some glamor. Enrich your wardrobe with some key pieces and you are ready to join the Bolshoi 😉 Do you dare to come in touch with your inner dancer?
